The opening 30 seconds or so of Davy Fitzgerald's interview with RTÉ after Clare lost to Limerick in the Munster Hurling Championship went thusly:

Clare McNamara: Davy, just a point short. Tell us how you're feeling right now.

Davy Fitz: Hard to take, don't think we deserved to lost that. Well done to Limerick.

CM: Hard to take in what way?

DF: Clare, you're not going to draw me on anything. Just well done to Limerick.

CM: Did you think there should have been more time added on there at the end?

DF: I have no comment to make on anything. You have a look at all the facts you'll see... I have no comment to make. That's It. I'm very, very proud of the Clare team and supporters today.

The interview went on for a further three minutes during which the Clare manager makes further thinly veiled references to the performance of the officials. Such as this unprompted opinion.

I don't know how many frees were in the game today or who got exactly how many or what the story is. We need to just let the hurling go on and flow away, ya know.

That's all after saying "no comment" to Clare McNamara when asked about the officials 30 seconds into the conversation.

He also questioned how hurt Limerick's Donal O'Grady had actually been in the incident which saw Clare captain Pat Donnellan sent off. An incident which he said he did not see.

It's a tough enough one to take. I'm sure Donal O'Grady is fine in there, there isn't a bother on him.

They could say the same. It was very harsh on their man that was sent off. It's 50-50, it's a game of hurling. If there's someone badly hurt, I can accept something but it does have an outcome on the game when you have stuff like that.
