St Joseph's Rochfortbridge won their first ever Leinster colleges senior 'A' football title on Friday, defeating Naas CBS by four points in Tullamore.

The semi-finals had been played in March with the players waiting four months for the game due to the Covid-19 lockdown.

St Joseph's and their corner forward Devin Hill got off to a start they would have dreamed about. In what was one of the first competitive games since the easing of restrictions, Hill lit up O'Connor Park with a scorching goal.

40 seconds in, Naas failed to deal with a long ball forward from Joseph's midfielder Niall Smullen. The ball broke allowing Hill through on goal. He wasted no time with a flicked pick up before swivelling and smashing the ball to the roof of David Morrissey's net.

Hill went on to score a further two points as Rochfortbridge won 2-13 to 0-15.

The game was streamed live on the Leinster GAA YouTube channel.
