A cheeky Diarmuid Connolly speech provided great mirth after St Vincent's beat Rhode by 1-16 to 0-12 in the Leinster senior club championship final.

The act of thanking the sponsor is a well-trodden ritual in the GAA. Whether it's the local butcher or a nationwide chain, the sponsor is a vital element of any club's success. Without them, crucial resources could not be obtained, vital facilities would not be possible.

And that was something Diarmuid Connolly was keen to emphasize after the St Vincent's team he captained beat Offaly club Rhode by 1-16 to 0-12 in the Leinster senior club championship final today at O'Moore Park.

Even though their sponsor Bank of Ireland only started sponsoring them for today's match.

Connolly gave a roaring approval of their sponsor's contribution to the cause - which was pretty hilarious given that it was only today that Bank of Ireland announced the deal. It's also pretty funny given the #TheToughest campaign that AIB have so successfully been running in support of the club championship.

As per usual, Connolly's performance was superb, including this fine piece of play ending up in a score for the ageless Mossy Quinn.

And the two linked up again for the moment of mischief after the game. It's clear from the cheeky grin of Quinn that he has something planned.

When Connolly enthusiastically delivers his line there is substantial mirth among the squad, with the naughty schoolboy-esque glances mostly aimed towards (what appears to be) the chief protagonist, the bould Quinn.

We weren't the only ones amused by Dermo and Mossy's wit.

It was certainly a day the marketing lads at BOI will be toasting for a while to come.
