The Dublin ladies All-Ireland winners have revealed they will have to fund-raise to go on a team holiday at the end of the year.

Every year, the men's All-Ireland finalists in both codes get to go on an end-of-year trip with the help of funds from Croke Park. There is no similar deal in place Ladies Football or Camogie.

Speaking on the Ray D'Arcy Show on RTÉ on Saturday night, Fiona Hudson and Niamh McEvoy made the revelation, alongside their partners Paul Flynn and Dean Rock.

Flynn revealed to D'Arcy that the men's holiday was in the 'planning phase' at the moment, but did not mention a location. In recent years the team have traveled to Thailand and Jamaica.

When Hudson was asked about the plans for the ladies team, the answer even surprised D'Arcy.

We’re hoping to start some fundraising now. It doesn’t come with the package like the guys, so we’re starting to do a bit of fundraising now and hopefully get on a team holiday.

Despite losing in the previous three All-Ireland Finals, McEvoy revealed the team have never got away on a break, despite their success.

We’ve never been on a holiday as a group, so we’re going to look into a bit of fundraising and hopefully just get some support.

The news of the fundraising will come as an embarrassment to those in charge of the sport. Flynn's comments on the show revealed how the preparation done by the ladies team behind the scenes.

The sacrifices that the ladies team make, sometimes I think surpasses what the lads do. This year, their training schedule has sometimes been busier than ours.
