It's that time of year again, as students from across the country prepare to lace up and take to the field in the 2023 Electric Ireland Fitzgibbon and Sigerson cups.

The draw has been made this afternoon, and has some seriously exciting fixtures, commencing on 10th-11th January.

In the Fitzgibbon Cup, holders UL are alongside ATU Galway and TUS Mid-West in Group D, whilst last year's finalists NUI Galway find themselves drawn against MTU Cork and SETU Waterford.

Elsewhere, in the Sigerson Cup, reigning champions NUI Galway will face Maynooth University in the opening round. Spring finalists UL will take on UCC in what promises to be an interesting matchup.

A Northern Derby between Queens University Belfast and Ulster University in the Sigerson Cup looks set to be a cracker, with the latter fielding a particularly interesting side to play in this year's tournament. All-Star Conor Glass is available for the university after his heroics with Derry in the All-Ireland Championship this year. Conor's intercounty teammates Niall Loughlin and Odhran Lynch are also in the squad.

All eyes now turn to January, as teams look to hit the ground running and kickstart their 2023 Fitzgibbon and Sigerson Cup campaigns with a win. This promises to be another exciting year!
