Friend Of Ireland Ricky Nixon Is In A Spot Of Bother

Christmas seems about 5 years ago at this stage, so we can't fully explain we slept on the St. Kilda's Aussie Rules sex scandal story. Deadspin have a neat summary, but to be brief, let's just say it involved 17-year-old Kim Duthie, two St Kilda's players and a few dong photos. Anyway, the story seemed so 2010 until great friend of Ireland 'player-manager' Ricky Nixon landed himself at the heart of the story.

VIDEO: Nixon’s hotel visit

Late last week, the Herald Sun posted this video of Nixon walking out of the Causeway 353 hotel where Duthie had a room. Nixon, who is the agent of two of the players at the heart of December's scandal, subsequently apologised for 'inappropriate dealings' with Duthie, although denies having sex with her. As the Herald Sun reports:

Nixon denied he'd had sex with the teen after claims by her that they had an affair.

But he did admit taking alcohol to the girl's room, where she was staying at the Saints' expense.

It is understood he alleged to police that she stole his credit card details to purchase an airfare to New Zealand.

And now Nova 93.7 FM has posted a video purportedly made by Duthie which appears to feature Nixon's wallet, iPhone and a few lines of white powder. Today Duthie was arrested and released.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. I'm all for Irish athletes receiving monetary reward for their athletic prowess, but to me, there was always a bit of sliminess about Nixon as he conducted his recruiting drives across Ireland. Who knows when we'll see him back.
