After a short introduction, there'll be absolutely no mention of these people in this entirely serious article. We swear.

The days of 'gym, tan and laundry' on the Jersey Shore could soon be replaced by 'hurling, farmer's tan and reusing last weeks jocks'.

The Irish American news website Irish Central has reported the news that we were all waiting for. Gaelic games have finally caught on at the Jersey shore. So much so that there is now a club called Jersey Shore GAA.

The origins of the club stem from the marriage of a Dubliner to a woman from Belmar, New Jersey. The couple settled in Ireland and raised a pair of hurling mad sons. During the summer, the family stayed at the Jersey shore and when the boys were itching for hurling action, a family friend decided to set up a club.

Mary Beth Glaccum was the friend in question. Glaccum, also the chairperson, said that although it's early days, the club has already begun to take off.

We are in year one. We now have enough men to field a full team and about 100 kids of all ages interested in getting involved with the sport. We are aiming that 2015 is really our year one.

The Situation as things stand is looking very good for the club thanks to a wider GAA community in the New Jersey area. David Cosgrove, the chair of New Jersey GAA is hopeful that Jersey Shore GAA can be used to bring together the large Irish American contingent in the state.

We are hoping to get all Irish organisations involved. We want to bring everyone together in support of the Gaelic games.
