With the inter-county season now finished, focus has very much been returned to the club scene in recent times. Galway were at the centre of that this afternoon, with one of their senior hurling games broadcast on TG4.
The game in question saw Sarsfields overcoming Ardrahan on a scoreline of 2-18 to 2-15, a result that saw both teams advance from the group stage.
There was some top quality hurling played during the game, with one eye-catching inclusion on the Ardrahan side. Having spent the last number of years in the USA, former Galway star Johnny Glynn returned to the club last month, being included in the squad once again this afternoon.
He would score a goal in the second half of the game, although it was not enough to earn the victory for his side.

While it is brilliant to see Glynn back playing hurling on this side of the Atlantic, his actions during this game have led to plenty of criticism.
Former Galway star called out for actions in club game
During the first half of the game, Johnny Glynn got into a tangle with a Sarsfield player as both players were on the ground. The Ardrahan man then seemed to perform an apparent choke on the opposition player.

The referee, who must not have seen what exactly had occurred, opted to book both players. Had they seen what looked like a choke from Glynn, it's likely that he would have received his marching orders.
Those who were watching the game felt that it was a moment of madness from the 2017 All-Ireland winner.

It certainly did not look good.
Having been part of the New York Gaelic football team in recent years, there has been some speculation that Johnny Glynn could return to the Galway hurling panel in 2024 under Henry Shefflin.
