The most famous moustache in hurling is about to get the chop.

Galway legend Gerry McInerney was part of the side that won two All-Irelands in 1987 and 1988. The Kinvara star was known around the country in his pomp for two reasons - his white boots and his moustache.

McInerney has decided to shave off the piece of Galway history for a good cause - the Tony Keady Family Fund.

Keady died last month, weeks before Galway won the All-Ireland title. He saw the side defeat Tipperary in the semi-final, days before his tragic passing.

The two men were part of the same side that won the All-Ireland titles, and McInerney's charity shave is the latest in a long line of fundraising efforts from the Galway hurling world for the Keady family.

According to Galway Bay FM, the moustache will be shaved off the the most famous barber in the world of GAA, Roscommon super-fan Paddy Joe Burke.

Was McInerney's skill hidden in the moustache? We'll know very soon.
