Danny Tallon scored 1-4 as Glen came out the winning side of a tense and physical Ulster semi-final with Cargin to reach the Ulster final.

In a game in difficult conditions, it was the Derry champions who ran out as 1-10 to 0-08 winners. They will now face defending All-Ireland champions Kilcoo, who defeated Enniskillen Geals by nine points in the other semi-final.

Key to victory for Glen was Danny Tallon, who scored vital scores, including a last minute penalty to guide his side to victory. Speaking to TG4 after the game, who revealed the hunger Glen have to avenge their Ulster final defeat.

It was a massive battle there, nip and tuck right until the end, a point and two points in it. Serious breeze there, we were with it in the first half. We knew if we stuck to our game plan we'd come through and thankfully we did in the end.

Kickouts were massive, we probably had to go a bit shorter, we had to run the ball a bit more rather than kick it in, but thankfully we worked it well. I know the bookies had us as heavy favourites but we knew not to read into that. We've played Carraig in friendlies, so we knew we were massively up against it.

Last year was our first Derry championship and we were sort of new to it. We got very close, and it just sort of gives you hunger to get back at it again. Thankfully we've got our crack at it in two weeks.

Kilcoo are obviously a serious outfit, going for three in row, all-Ireland champions. Massive, massive task over the next two weeks but we'll work hard and give it our best shot."

Danny Tallon's early point got Glen off the mark after a minute in a tense game, with Cargin struggling to create chances in the first half.

Conor Glass was key to Glen in a key midfield battle, with frees from Cargain leaving them a score behind as the Derry champions went in with a 0-05 to 0-04 lead.

The sides continued to exchange scores in a tight game, as Cargain were always in touching distance. However, Glen finished stronger in the final stages , with a penalty from Tallon putting the result beyond doubt.
