Ballyhale Shamrocks lost to Graignamanagh in the Kilkenny intermediate football league on Saturday.

Normally, such a game would not receive much attention.

When a 10-time All-Ireland winning hurler turns out for his club - to make his first gaelic football appearance in 14 years - it is certainly noteworthy.

Henry Shefflin togged out for Ballyhale in their six-point loss to Graignamanagh.

Shefflin retired from inter-county hurling in March. His newly acquired free time seems to have allowed him to take up pursuits outside of hurling.

Shefflin's former Kilkenny hurling teammate David Herity - who is part of the county's football panel - was quick to offer the 37-year-old the opportunity of a trial.
