When Henry Shefflin hung up his boots last month, the obvious question was 'what next for the Kilkenny great?'. As tends to happen, many speculated media work and it looks like that's going to be the case with RTÉ and Sky apparently involved in something of a tug of war over the ten time All Ireland winner.

Confirming that both Sky and RTÉ had thrown their hat in the ring, Shefflin said that talks have only recently begun but that we would more than likely be seeing him analysing the upcoming Championship campaign, on one channel or another.

I’m in talks at the minute, just to see what the options are. They both asked me would I like to do a bit of work, and I’m looking at one or two options, and what best suits myself.

One way or another, it looks like we're going to see King Henry on TV in some guise this year and the man himself has said that it's something he was always going to aim for to wean himself off the thrill of actually being on the field.

People are starting to think about the Championship, and I’ve been asked to do a bit of work. I know I’m going to miss it, so I’d like to be involved.

We'll certainly look forward to seeing what he brings to the table.
