Jerry Kiernan has inflamed the passions of all true gaels by denigrating the fitness of gaelic footballers on the national airwaves. One wonders though if GAA players doth protest too much. While Kiernan was very wrong in most of his main points on player fitness, there are still a few 'big-boned' fellas on the GAA.

We cannot simply let this controversy dangle in the wind. We need a resolution. So here's what Balls.ie is proposing:

A race. One month from today in Santry. Jerry Kiernan will represent Jerry Kiernan's views and his mullet. The GAA will elect a member from its own community. The race will be 1500 metres long. If there is no one in the GAA who can beat the 59-year-old in a 1500m race, we'd be willing to take Kiernan a bit more seriously.
