Both Limerick and Waterford enjoyed victories in their opening weekend of the championship. After a difficult season in the league, Limerick reminded everyone why they are All-Ireland champions with an 11-point victory over Cork. Despite a strong start by the Rebels, Limerick took over proceedings in the second half, with goals from Kyle Hayes and Aaron Gillane helping them to a 2-25 to 1-17 victory.

Meanwhile, Division 1 champions Waterford were made to work by Tipperary to earn a 2-24 to 2-20 victory. Tipperary gave Liam Cahill’s side a tougher test than many had expected and were ahead by four points at the interval. However, Waterford found another gear in the second half through substitutes Austin Gleeson and Jamie Barron, with second half goals from Mikey Kiely and Dessie Hutchinson helping them complete the comeback.

Team News

There's one big selection change for the All-Ireland champions. Limerick will go into tomorrow's game without the versatile Kyle Hayes, with Conor Boylan slotting in at full forward. Hayes is not listed in the match day 26. Dan Morrissey starts at 7.
