A Donegal hurler managed to win the county final with his club just months after nearly killing himself in a horrific chainsaw accident. Jamesie Donnelly starred for Sean MacCumhaills in the senior championship final against Burt.
But it could have been so different. Back in December, a chainsaw ripped Donnelly's legs and into his lower abdomen. Had it been a few inches higher - he would have cut his spinal chord.
He spent three weeks in Letterkenny University hospital, needing more than 100 stitches to recover from his awful injuries and nerve damage.
He told the Irish News that he didn't know if he would be able to stand again. Donnelly shone at fullback in the final, and had one telling goal saving block in the four-point victory for MacCumhaills.
