Galway and Dublin are set to hurl in Fenway Park this November as part of the Irish Festival in Boston.
The AIG Fenway Hurling Classic will take place on the 22nd of November, the day after Notre Dame take on Boston College in a college football game.
It will be super 11's rather than 15-a-side, and players can only score goals.
This form of the game was, as some of you may know, developed by the GPA a few years ago, primarily as a means of allowing hurling to be played in prestigious overseas venues with smaller pitches. In other words, precisely for an event such as this.
Hurling was last played at Fenway Park in 1954, when then All-Ireland champions Cork defeated what is termed an 'American selection'.
Naturally, it is Galway and Dublin's first meeting since the former mauled the latter in the Leinster first round replay in Tullamore.
