We were saddened this morning to hear news of the death of WLR FM sports editor Kevin Casey, who has passed away after a short illness.

Originally from Kerry, Casey has been one of the leading voices of Waterford sport for the last decade, and was a winner of two GAA McNamee Awards and a PPI National Radio Award.

The PPI and the second of those McNamee awards came from his incredible 2015 interview with Waterford All-Star Maurice Shanahan, where the All-Star opened up about his battle with depression.

Kevin, who was aged just 40,  is survived by his wife Marguerite, his three sons Paul, Mark and James. We wish them our sincerest condolences in this difficult time.
