As you read this, all around the world there are a plethora of GAA heroes hard at work, spreading our national sport to all corners and helping people of every nationality fall in love with football and hurling.

One such man is Raffaello Franco. Two years ago, the Italian came to Ireland on his honeymoon and bought a Gaelic football. He fell in love with the sport, and when he returned to his home in Rovigo he decided to set up a GAA club – with his one football.

Fast forward to present day and Rovigo GFC are preparing to host the next round of the Italian-Swiss Regional Tournament. Everyone of the players are Italian; Rafaello is the Chairperson and coach.

Thank God he didn't lose that football.
