Michael Murphy has returned to the Donegal intercounty team, and fans have been rejoicing since the news broke, especially as he seemed determined to stay retired.
Despite stepping away from the game two years ago, Murphy has said on several occasions that he had no intention of returning, even when Jim McGuinness came back into the fold.
However, the flying full forward was a part of the Football Rules Committee and no sooner did it seem that the new enhancements that encourage forwards to be forwards were going to be passed, it was leaked that the former county captain was back in the mix.
The bad news is that Murphy did pick up an injury, and it was unclear if he would be back in time for the opening league match against Kerry.
Speaking to Donegal Live, McGuinness revealed that the sharp shooter is on the mend, and return to play is imminent.

“He did nick his hamstring when he came in first but he’s fine now, he’s in that same phase as Odhran McFadden-Ferry, Eoghan McGettigan and those sort of players.
"It’s about getting them up to a level. If we have to hold people back and play 25 minutes or hold them back a couple of games, that’s what we’re going to do.
"Sport science is a big part of it now and we just want to make sure that everybody is in the right place."
Since returning, there has been a lot of speculation that Murphy will actually be used as a goalkeeper, rather than a forward.
The new rules mean that goalkeepers who join the attack in the opposition half will give their team a 12 vs 11 numerical advantage, so in theory having Murphy as that extra man would be a powerful asset to the team.
However, McGuinness gave a tongue in cheek answer when asked about it and grinned when he gave his reply.
“ I would say in goals would be my choice, we have a good goalie so sub goalie, maybe.
“We’re just delighted to have him back. As a management team the one thing you want is the best players in the county available to you.
"You know he was one of the best - if not the best player - in the club championship and so right away you're thinking there's more to come here.
"Michael’s experience is massive. Michael has to get himself in the right spot. He is dangerous and carries a big presence. He’s versatile and has shown that down the years. Looking ahead, we have to remain adaptable.”
It seems like we are no wiser as to whether or not Donegal will deploy their star man in goals or not, but he will certainly be playing a key role in the coming season.
