Jim McGuinness gave a wide ranging interview on RTE Radio One this weekend in which he spoke about the challenges of fund raising for counties outside the elite.

While Donegal have mixed it with the elite in recent years, embarrassing them on several high profile days, few expect them to be permanent residents.

They don't boast the same resources as Kerry - and they are miles of Dublin.

For me, the top teams in the country are operating on a completely different level to most other teams.

He contrasted Kerry raising €3 million in the last year to year and a half with Donegal's recent fund-raising efforts, in which a bucket collection brought in €1,500.

And then there's Dublin.

Dublin, in my opinion, are operating like a Premier League team in the UK; that’s the level they are operating at. That’s my opinion.

McGuinness insists that the gap between the counties will only increase unless the GAA take pro-active steps to equalise things.
