When Jim McGuinness joined Celtic back in 2012 - a number of months after Donegal won the All-Ireland - his role was originally as a performance consultant with the club's academy.
Since the arrival of Ronny Deila as manager, McGuinness has become more involved with the first team. He has also begun the process of attaining his coaching badges.
On Tuesday night's Off The Ball, the 42-year-old explained that he is studying a number of teams at the moment as part of his education in the sport.
There would be quite a number of teams that I'm studying at the moment and there would be certain elements within certain teams that excite me.
Prompted by Everton fan Colm Parkinson's question, McGuinness said that the Toffees are not on the list.
Everton wouldn't be in the top ten.
Teams that do excite him at the moment though include Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen.
There's some really exciting teams out there, Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen have a really interesting coach in Roger Schmidt. Obviously Pep Guardiola, defensively Mourinho. So, there's loads and loads.
Our own manager here at Celtic, his style more than anybody because I'm so close to the action. Obviously, I should be studying that closer than anything because I'm in a position to asks questions like 'Why do we do this and why do we do that?' You'll always get an answer.
We've got a huge recruitment structure. So I have access to pretty much any game in to world that's going on. I can pick a game, download it and have it on my laptop in 30 minutes.
Speaking about Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone, McGuinness said that his style, tactically rather than sartorially, is one that he admires.
I do like that high intensity style in a manager. I suppose Donegal defensively, we built on a defensive platform and tried to use that as an opportunity to attack. Whereas I suppose Simeone and Ronny Deila want to press higher up the field, like Dublin in Gaelic football over the last number of years. A higher press that makes it more difficult to play through the first and middle third.
