Late last month, Joe Brolly was down in Tralee for a fundraiser for Austin Stacks GAA club.

In his column for Gaelic Life, the Derryman detailed the events of the night. Kieran Donaghy, along with several other Kerry players past and present were in attendance.

Arriving in Kerry by plane, Brolly burst into the room, poking the Kerry captain about his Tyrone heritage, who was startled to see the RTÉ analyst.

Not wasting time, Brolly told Donaghy that he had slipped up with his "What do you think of that, Joe Brolly?" comment after the All-Ireland final.

Did your ma never tell you not to challenge the man with the mic? Your first slip up and the Sean Cavanagh episode will seem like a breaktime story in the creche.

The Kerryman defended himself.

Ah jaysus Joe, sure you said I was finished.

Brolly retorted with a knockout line that had the room in stitches.

Wasn’t me left on you on the bench for 90% of the year.

As proceedings wound down for the evening and tales were told, Eoin 'Bomber' Liston let the guest know his secret. It nearly caused Brolly to regurgitate his beverage.

You see these hands Derry man? Most human beings are born with skin on their hands. I was born with silk.
