Kieran Donaghy says that Aidan O'Shea celebrating in David Moran's face spurred him onto catch the ball which led to James O'Donoghue's crucial goal against Mayo in the drawn All-Ireland semi-final at Croke Park.

Donaghy was speaking to Weeshie Fogarty on Radio Kerry's Terrace Talk show when he made the revelation. Fogarty told the All-Star nominee that he thought there was real spite in him when he went up for the ball.

This is what the Austin Stacks man had to say:

Do you know where the spite came from? It's a funny one but Aidan O'Shea celebrated the point in front of David Moran's face. You know when they got that point to put them five up with three or four minutes to go. I was running out and I saw it going on and it actually maddened me. Cos the game wasn't over and you know Dave is a very clean player, he wouldn't have any nastiness in him at all. So, I didn't know where this was coming from. The temper was built up in my stomach from then on.

Down I went, down to the Canal End goal and whatever ball was coming in I was going to have a stab at it anyway and whether I caught it or not would've been another thing. Paul Geaney put in a lovely ball on the outside of the left boot and it was at a time where I felt we needed a goal.

The man known as 'The Star' passed it off to O'Donoghue whose shot hit the back of Rob Hennelly's net. Substitute Kieran O'Leary scored the point that would take the game to a replay just minutes later.
