Kerry GAA Chairman Pat O'Sullivan sounded remarkably sombre in his interview on Colm Cooper's season ending injury with Greg Allen on RTE's Drivetime programme this evening. O'Sullivan said that Cooper was "devastated" as were his entire family. O'Sullivan remarked that the whole atmosphere was like there had been "a death in the family."

O'Sullivan did sound like a local councillor bringing news of a local tragedy. It certainly was dreadful news. Cooper was in scintillating form last year, playing better than ever in the hugely exciting role of centre forward playmaker. He suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury playing for Dr. Crokes against Castlebar Mitchells at the weekend. The news is not just bad for Kerry fans but GAA fans.
