Former Donegal player Martin McHugh has backtracked on his comments on The Sunday Game a couple of days ago, where he described Colm Cooper as a 'two trick pony.'

McHugh caused uproar for having the temerity to apply such a label to the Gooch when comparing him to James O'Donoghue, but, in his column in the Irish Daily Star today, McHugh says:

I brought up Cooper but made a mistake by using the phrase 'two trick pony'to describe the Dr Crokes man.

It's a clumsy phrase, no doubt about it, and one that doesn't stand up. But live television is unforgiving. You say something and it's out there.

McHugh also embellishes his praise by pointing out pretty much every time he's said a nice thing about the Gooch in the past.

He does however, stand by his original argument that Jame O'Donoghue will be better than his Kerry teammate: 'Cooper is a true great but I'm convinced O'Donoghue will be remembered as even better.'

Who do you think will go down in history as the best? Let us know.
