Holy Moses!

We're happy to report that we have another GAA/religious comparison: Lazarus couldn't kick points like Colin Corkery, and now we know that the Virgin Mary can't attract a crowd like Marty Morrissey.

Yep, Morrissey is set to make an apparition at Knock today, and is expected to do so to a much larger crowd than the meagre fifteen that bothered to turn out to see the Virgin Mary back in 1879.

The Irish Times report that RTE's GAA Correspondent is going to speak at a couple of masses during the Knock Novena later today. Marty will speak at the 3pm and 8.30pm masses about championship structures  "the importance of Living Life to the Full", to which he presumably will not include attempts to prod Jim Gavin into saying something interesting.

Morrissey told The Irish Times that he will speak about "love, community, how important communication is and how action can be even more influential” and “the importance of just getting out there and doing things, of a ‘glass-half-full’ positivity".

He also told the paper that he is no "no Holy Joe. Or Holy Marty" but is "delighted and honoured" to be asked to speak at the Novena, which attracts crowds of around 150,000 people across nine days.

But such is the attraction of Marty, it is widely reported that there won't be a shrine blessed in Knock for a week.  (Sorry. We had to).
