Scotstown booked their place in an 11th consecutive Monaghan GAA Senior Football Championship final on Sunday, defeating Corduff Gaels on a scoreline of 1-13 to 1-6 in their semi-final meeting at Clones.

The 21-time county champions have won all but three of the last the ten editions of the competition, although they are looking to win the title back this year having lost to Ballybay Pearse Brothers in the 2022 decider.

In contrast, Corduff Gaels were hoping to reach the final for the first time in their history having been promoted from the intermediate ranks last year.

Scotstown would go on to dominate much of the contest, and having led by four points at halftime, they would extend that advantage before the end of the game to ultimately run out as seven-point winners.

While it was not the closest of fixtures, the conversation post-match has been dominated by the actions of one of the Corduff players.

Monaghan GAA club player criticised for actions towards physio

Scotstown boast a number of Monaghan stars in their squad, with Jack McCarron now also among their ranks having transferred to the club for 2023. He was at the centre of the incident that has got people talking in the aftermath of this game.

While McCarron was down getting treatment for an injury, a pair of Corduff players acted poorly towards the physio who was attending to the Scotstown man.

In the clip below, you can see Corduff's no. 19 feign to knee the physio in the face, before one of his teammates then throws water on the physio and McCarron.

Regardless of any tensions that were brewing during the course of the match, treating a physio in this manner was incredibly poor form.

Earlier today, the physio at the centre of the incident would give his own version of events.

Taking to Twitter, Dermot Foley would share an extended clip that showed the  sequence events leading up to footage above. In it, you can see that he was shoved to the ground by a Corduff player before the other actions took place.

It certainly wasn't a good look for the club or players involved, with the added detail making the incident look even more damning than it was in the original clip.

You would imagine that the authorities in Monaghan will be having a word with Corduff Gaels about their conduct moving forward.
