Naomh Columba Players Go To Ridiculous Lengths For The Love Of Their Club

Over five hundred kilometres. Almost seven hours. That is the round trip that ten Donegal club players had to undertake last Wednesday to line out for their club, Naomh Columba.

It's an incredible level of commitment but they did it for the love of their club and a place in the Donegal Intermediate Football championship semi-final according to Chris McNulty of Donegal Sports Hub.

Following a draw in their quarter-final with St Naul's, the Naomh Columba men were left with a dilemma. With thirteen players based outside the county, including seven in college in the capital, they had to ask the players to turn around and make the epic trek back up to Adara midweek for the replay.

Thankfully for the Naomh Columba men, they made no mistake at the second attempt, defeating St Nauls 2-7 to 0-3. The hard work does not stop there though as the men from the Glen.

Tomorrow (Saturday) they are in action once again in the Michael Murphy Sport's & Leisure IFC semi-final v Burt at 2.30pm. Three games in six days on top of several trips up and down the country. The life of a club footballer is far from a glamorous one!

We have no real favourites in the Donegal Intermediate Championship but we do hope that the Naomh Columba boys get the win this time around.
