It was never going to go off without some small degree of controversy. While the majority will say that it didn't take away from Dublin's dominant win, the much talked about incident between Philly McMahon and Kieran Donaghy has left a bitter taste in the mouth of some.

So what exactly happened? Marty Morrisey got the interview that everyone wanted on Morning Ireland this morning and although McMahon addressed the allegations of gouging, he didn't exactly clear things up.

It's the heat of the battle. We'd like to say it's part of our culture is humility and the same with the Kerry lads. What happens on the pitch stays on the pitch. We shook hands and that was the end of it.

This is gaelic football. We’re grown men, we play a physical sport and at the end of the day, the result is what ends it, we shake hands and get on with it.
