Clare and Limerick played an entertaining draw in the Munster U20 Hurling Championship on Wednesday evening.

Limerick had led 1-19 to 1-16 as the clock ticked into injury time but Clare found three scores - two from midfielder Sean Rynne and the other from Colm Cleary - to earn a draw.

Reigning Munster champions Limerick held a five-point advantage in the first half, and led by three at the break, but Clare reeled them. The Banner took a two-point lead midway through the second half thanks to Scariff forward Patrick Crotty who scored 1-3 on the night.

Limerick fought back, largely thanks to the accuracy of Effin forward Patrick O'Donovan who hit 0-12 in the game with five points coming from play, to take that three-point lead in the 60th minute.

Rynne scored his second point of the night in the 61st minute, after the sliotar broke to him from a mass scramble to reduce the deficit to two. Substitute Cleary cut Limerick's lead to the minimum in the 62nd minute.

Inagh-Kilnamona man Rynne then made himself the hero for Clare, winning a turnover, and then hitting a sensational point from near the sideline to level the game at 1-19 each. Referee Nicky Barry blew the final whistle after the puckout which followed.

"We do a lot of work in training to steel the mind for them kind of moments," Rynne told the Clare GAA TV YouTube channel.

"We knew we'd always be in with a chance at the end of the game. There's not much between any of the teams in Munster. I was just lucky to be on the end of that break after all the work from the lads.

"There's savage character in that dressing room. We just keep working for each other, keep doing the right things, and it was reflected in the scoreline at the end.

"Off the bench, we have savage power as well - it's not just the starting 15. We have a massive panel there."

The game was Clare's second draw of the championship. They also finished level in the opening round match against Tipperary at the weekend. Limerick had defeated Waterford in their first game .
