The article in question is focused on the problems in the league of Ireland and there are plenty of things to pick apart in that. But let's focus on the above. Now there were more than a few games in last years football championship that rendered the word bogball as soft (here's looking at you McGuinness) but to call it as a more violent version of handball is just ridiculous.

To dismiss hurling as a caveman pursuit goes beyond ridiculous, beyond words. Few if any sports in the world can match our savage ballet and the writer in question has clearly never seen a game in his life. He did get one thing right though, it does "involve" sticks.
