Real Westmeath captain Kieran Gavin was quoted in a fake local Westmeath newspaper dated yesterday about his county's chances in this season's National Football League campaign. He'd "give her a good auld rattle this year", he didn't say. They certainly are too, Westmeath sit on top of Division Two of the National League with two wins from two games.

In the fake article for which he was not intverviewed for, Gavin also expanded on the good time that his club side had after winning a county championship the previous year, saying that they "enjoyed the shteam for a few weeks after it".

The most amusing fake line came towards the end though when the fake reporter inquired about a relationship between Gavin and a local Mullingar girl. Gavin responded with a classic 'Hardy Bucks' quote, "tis a dirty puddle that wouldn't cool a hot iron".

Forward to the 5.45 mark of the below clip from episode 8 of 'Hardy Bucks' to hear the line.
