Westmeath for Liam McCarthy

I was reading about Declan Meehan's career on RTE.ie and stumbled upon a pretty ridiculous poll asking readers opinions on who they think will win Liam McCarthy in 2011. It's not so much that the question is ridiculous, just that in the interest of objectivity, RTE has listed most of the counties that play hurling in Ireland, when we all know that one of about three team (the same 3 teams as every year) have a chance. Feeling mischievous, I voted for Westmeath. Imagine my shock to learn that nearly 16% of readers had voted for Westmeath, which made them third favourite, ahead of Cork, Waterford and Galway.

Now either Westmeath are about to unleash 15 Shefflin cousins this season or bored readers on RTE.ie are conspiring to subvert the RTE sports department. We view this as a noble campaign and encourage anyone looking to subvert RTE sports to follow this link to vote for Westmeath. Democracy in action.
