Wexford have opened their Allianz Hurling League campaign with two wins from two games under Davy Fitzgerald.

After beating Limerick at Wexford Park last weekend, Wexford travelled to Salthill to face Galway on Sunday afternoon.

Wexford trailed at half-time by two points on a scoreline fo 2-7 to 0-11. They were six points down with 17 minutes remaining when Joe Canning, who had come on as a substitute to make his first appearance since last year's All-Ireland semi-final, hit the back of the net with a penalty.

Galway would score just one more point after Canning's goal, a lengthy free from goalkeeper Colm Callanan with around 10 minutes remaining, which left them three points ahead.
