St. Peter's College Wexford beat a combined Wicklow Schools team by two points, 0-13 to 1-8 in Enniscorthy on Wednesday in the Leinster Schools Senior A Football semi-final.

According to the Wicklow People, 10 bus loads of supporters from the Wexford side turned up for the game, creating a raucous atmosphere at St.Patrick’s Park.

During the game, as Wicklow keeper Mark Jackson stepped to to take a free kick, the notion of respect for the kicker was at a premium as a cacophony of noise came from the stand.

After Jackson nailed the kick, a shout came from the sideline.

That's the only answer to that. That's the only answer to them boys.

As the keeper ran back towards the goal, beckoning his supporters to raise their voices, the St. Peter's corner foward, who had escorted Jackson up the pitch - like Kieran Donaghy and Stephen Cluxton in the 2015 All-Ireland final - followed him back to other end.

When a Wicklow player was levelled with a shoulder in the second half and another was free awarded, Jackson again made his way forward, as did his escort. Though, the Wicklow players ensured his journey did not last long.
