On Sunday, Offaly ended many years of hurt to land the All-Ireland U20 Football Championship at Croke Park.

While it not the Sam Maguire, it signifies that the Faithful County are on their way back.

It was was an emotional day at Croke Park, none more so than for the Midlands 103 commentary team who called the action from the press box on Jones' Road.

Laz Molloy, John Reynolds and famous Offaly referee  Brian Gavin all reveled in joy as Offaly held out to secure a famous win over Roscommon with some iconic commentary.

While it was great throughout, it went to a whole new level in the dying embers of the game as Offaly held out for a famous win.

The sheer panic, anxiety, and then joy was there for all to see. And there was even a homage to Shane Lowry to boot.

"He’s not given us a free John," the last minute of the commentary starts with. "He shoved him over the line there, but the referee has been good to us all game so we’re not going to start criticising him now.

I’VE NEVER HEARD SO MANY WHISTLES IN MY LIFE, IT’S THE LIKE THE SHEEP DOG TRIALS…

IT’S OVER, IT’S OVERRRR. IT’S ALL OVER, AND OFFALY ARE ALL-IRELAND U20 CHAMPIONS FOR 2021.

WHAT A WONDERFUL FINISH FOR A WONDERFUL TEAM WHO HAD A WONDERFUL CHAMPIONSHIP.

THE WHOLE PLACE HAS GONE MAD, AND LOOK AT THIS MAN SHANE LOWRY ON THE BIG SCREEN."

It has been a momentous rise in Offaly in recent times after they fell to depths they would have never thought were possible not to long ago.

But for now, they rise again. And the last few words of the commentary broadcast put it all into perspective.

"What an influence he [Shane Lowry] has had on every young lad in Offaly,"

"He said that he would put money into the underage structure and we will rise again. And thank god we rose.

"I have tears in my eyes here!"
