One of the more unlikely meetings between the worlds of GAA and football has taken place this week in Brazil as Ronaldinho invited Brosna gaelic footballer Paul Walsh to his flat in Rio de Janeiro.

Walsh will be well-known to Balls.ie readers. The floppy-haired Brosna forward captained the Kerry minors to the 2018 All-Ireland and was voted player of the year for the season. Walsh was last seen in the Kerry jersey playing for the Kingdom's U20 side just before covid hit in 2020.

Well, he found himself playing keepie-uppie's with one of Brazil's greatest footballers this week.

Paul Walsh and Ronaldinho: what we know

We were delighted to learn that Ronaldinho has an amazing table tennis table and a Heineken fridge in his house.

The legendary Brazilian footballer was, of course, photographed with the green and gold jersey of the Kingdom.

Balls.ie's moles are trying to get to the bottom of how this meeting took place. Very people around Brosna seem to know much about the meeting. One person from the club described the meeting as 'complete and utter mystery'. From discussions around Brosna, it seems Paul Walsh was in Kerry very recently and was expected at training at Tuesday. The link between Ronaldinho and Walsh is believed to be Ronalidinho's brother Roberto, who's also Ronaldinho's agent. Walsh and Roberto are believed to be friends on Instagram.  There is a completely unsubstantiated rumour going around social media that Ronaldinho flew him over to Brazil's biggest city. We are trying to substantiate this rumour, but it is frankly too good not to print. Watch this space for updates.

Kudos must go to Paul Walsh and the Brosna GAA PRO, who apparently managed to get Ronaldinho to enter the club raffle for a new Volkswagen.

This is likely the biggest encounter between a sporting icon and a Kerry jersey since Usain Bolt met the Kerry team back in 2010.
