It's finally happening. The game we have all been waiting for has just been announced. In a special Pokémon Presents video presentation, The Pokémon Company announced a New Pokémon Snap game will be coming to Nintendo Switch. The long-awaited successor to the N64 classic involves players taking photos of the pocket monsters in various locales.

What do we know about Pokémon Snap?

So far, we know very little about the new version other than the name and that it is being developed by Bandai Namco, which has partnered with Nintendo on other successful series such as Super Smash Bros.

By taking photographs in the game, you build up a Photodex (similar to the Pokedex used in the original game series). By doing so, you will experience "new, never-before-seen Pokémon expressions and behaviors". Sounds exciting!

According to Nintendo, this is the basic premise of New Pokémon Snap:

Travel to unknown islands with beautiful scenery like lush jungles and sandy beaches. The Pokémon pictures you take there will be used to build your very own Pokémon Photodex!

This brand-new game brings the gameplay of the 1999 Pokémon Snap game for the Nintendo 64 system to life on the Nintendo Switch system with unknown islands to discover and different Pokémon to see!

Photograph lively wild Pokémon in their natural habitats as you research and explore unknown islands. Journey through a variety of environments such as beaches and jungles to capture previously-unseen Pokémon behaviors. The photos you take can also be used to fill out your very own Pokémon Photodex!

The original Pokémon Snap was released on N64 in 1999 and was well-received by fans and critics alike. It is a game that fans have hoped to see a return in some shape or form for a while now.

As of yet, there is no release date for New Pokémon Snap and Wether it will amass the incredible following of Pokémon Go a few years back remains to be seen.
