David Meyler Is Beating Top FIFA 17 Players With Hull And Putting It On YouTube

Hull City midfielder and Republic of Ireland international David Meyler is really, really good at FIFA.

That's not news, as the fact that he's been streaming his FIFA gameplay live on Twitch and taking on professional gamers and YouTubers has been known for some time now (and results in Twitter blowing up anytime he does something of note on an actual football pitch) but he is now making a go of the whole YouTube FIFA scene himself, and it's bloody good.

Meyler has started his own 'Road To Glory' style series where he is attempting to win Division 1, the top division for online ranked games in FIFA Ultimate Team, using only Hull City players.

Episode one is live, and features Meyler picking his squad and kicking off the series with a win.

While some people may not understand the phenomenon of watching other people play video games, it's a massive and ever-growing industry and now that an actual Premier League footballer is doing it, it adds an entirely different element.

And Meyler is, we can't stress this enough, really good. You can see straight away that upon starting this series his record is 684-72-277, which is absolutely ridiculous for someone that plays 'Weekend League' (an elite online tournament where you must win a tournament first to qualify) and high divisions play, but he's also beating Division 1 players, complete with insane dream teams, with his Hull City teammates.

As for the videos, there's great enjoyment to be had in Meyler's commentary to his games and squad building, one we particularly liked was:

Leave in the comments section down below who you want me to have as manager.

I wouldn't be surprised if most people said Alan Pardew, we'll see.

And then you'll get little tidbits and stories about his teammates whenever they do something like make a stray pass or miss a chance, or if he sees something that he doesn't believe would fly in the real thing.

Cavani holding off Huddlestone, I'd like to see that in real life.

It's clear that FIFA is a serious hobby for Meyler, and that he's rather good at it, so fair play to him for sharing it with his fans. He's already got 60,000+ subscribers, which is good going for a channel with five videos on it.

Fair play to you David Meyler, we'll be watching and hoping you can claim a Division 1 title with David Marshall in nets instead of David De Gea, and Sam Clucas on the wing instead of Eden Hazard. Although, that 95 rated Pro Player David Meyler card will no doubt make things run smoother.
