FIFA 23 Ratings Revealed: Messi Over Ronaldo; Haaland Undervalued?

Well, it’s that time of year again. With FIFA 23 just weeks away from release, EA Sports has released pictures of the top 23 players in the world and their new overall ratings for this upcoming year of Ultimate Team. The FIFA 23 ratings have already provoked a lot of debate, so without further ado, let’s see what EA Sports has in store for us this year.

FIFA 23 ratings- the top 23

91 -Kylian Mbappe, Karim Benzema, Robert Lewandowski, De Bruyne, Leo Messi

90-  Mo Salah, Virgil Van Dijk, Cristiano Ronaldo, Courtois, Neuer

89 - Mané, Neymar, Son, Kimmich, Casemiro, Alisson, Ederson, Kane, Kante, Oblak

88- Haaland, Kroos, Marquinhos

As expected, the FIFA 23 ratings have sparked much discussion online. Many are very surprised to still see Kanté amongst the game's elite. Many are baffled to see Haaland a mere 88.

Ronaldo is also down one from his 91 score last year, one behind Messi.

EA Sports also teased the following rating reveals in the past 24 hours.

Joao Felix –  84 (+1)

Portuguese young talent Joao Felix sees his FIFA rating improve marginally from last year’s game, with minor improvements to his pace, shooting, passing and dribbling. Felix contributed to 16 of Atletico Madrid’s goals last season, an impressive statistic considering Madrid’s style of play and his various injury spells. Felix will be one to watch in the future, although his statistics are already very impressive.

Federico Valverde – 84 (+1)

Boasting 46 appearances for Real Madrid last season, Federico Valverde has proved a constant starter in an ageing Real Madrid midfield. The young Uruguayan is a consistent performer in this Madrid squad, his importance is reflected in his improved rating for this year. Valverde sees increases to his pace, passing and his defensive duties, making him a serious option in your Ultimate Team midfield.

Kai Havertz – 84 (no change)

Recommended

After a decent season which saw him score 14 goals and register 6 assists, Kai Havertz’s FIFA 23 rating remains the same as the season previous. With summer signing Lukaku expressing his discontent towards the club, the role of centre forward fell to Kai Havertz for much of last season. Havertz failed to perform at the top level consistently and his stagnation is probably justified.

Jack Grealish –  84 (no change)

Having failed to impress in his first season at Manchester City, it may come as a surprise to see Jack Grealish’s FIFA 23 rating stay at 84. Only able to muster 6 goals and 4 assists in 39 appearances with City, Grealish’s season was underwhelming. This underperformance is reflected in his statistics which see him drop ratings in the pace and dribbling category.

Dusan Vlahovic – 84 (+6)

In a season of disappointment at Juventus, one player certainly stood out. A prolific goal scorer, Vlahovic scored 29 goals and assisted 6 in 45 appearances last season, earning him a six-point improvement on his FIFA 22 rating. The young Serb’s remarkable season sees him improve in almost every aspect of his ratings, making him a sudden danger man for the upcoming year of ultimate team.

Jude Bellingham – 84 (+5)

The youngest player on this list, aged just 19 years old, Jude Bellingham is proving to be a future star. Making 44 appearances last season and registering 20 goal contributions, Bellingham is pivotal to the Borussia Dortmund squad and looks set to continue to improve. In what was a surprisingly disappointing season for Dortmund, Bellingham’s talent, energy (and comments about referees) stood out, making his rating upgrade justifiable.

Christian Pullisic – 82 (no change)

Arguably the most controversial of them all, Christian Pulisic, or known by other as ‘The Lebron James of Soccer’, has kept his 82 rating for this season. This will come as a surprise to many as he only managed 8 goals and 5 assists in 38 appearances for Chelsea last season. Pulisic has been rather unimpressive during his time at Chelsea, failing to register a goal contribution so far this season, leaving many fans wondering why his rating has not dropped. Will his dip in form be accounted for by release date? Either way, his electric pace will make him a potential for many Ultimate Team managers.

With just weeks until the release of FIFA 23, if we have learnt anything from these released FIFA 23 ratings it’s that this year will be full of surprises.
