With the release of FIFA 23 just days away (and some players already having access to the game), it's time to turn your attention to Career Mode. Think about your FIFA career, whether it be as a player or as a manager. You can create your own player and rise through the ranks, or start your managerial career and take over your favourite team.

New to FIFA23 is the feature that allows you to control your favourite manager; Jurgen Klopp, Pep Guardiola or even Damein Duff! This exciting new addition is sure to add to the drama already created by Career Mode.

Without further ado, here are the seven teams to start your career in.

FIFA 23: Best career mode teams

A Career Mode with AFC Richmond from 'Ted Lasso'

AFC Richmond, the team from Emmy award winning TV Series 'Ted Lasso', are a new addition to FIFA 23, giving you the opportunity to play with your favourite TV characters.

You will be able to play as AFC Richmond in various different game modes across the game, however in Career mode you will have the opportunity to control the infamous American manager, Ted Lasso, in the Premier League.

You will also have the opportunity to interact with players such as Roy Kent, Jamie Tartt and Dani Rojas in career mode as you face the perils of the Premier League. Ted Lasso in FIFA 23 is surely a fever dream.

Newcastle United

Following the controversial takeover of Newcastle Football Club by The Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, Newcastle are now considered to be the richest club in football, with the owners' net worth being estimated at £302 Billion.

Their extraordinary wealth makes Newcastle the perfect team to begin your managerial career with, allowing you to be able to offer Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland sizeable contracts. With no financial restrictions, you will be able to create your own super-team in your first transfer window and help Newcastle climb the league table to compete with Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester City.

With your help, they can bring the Champions League Anthem to St. James' Park.

A Career Mode with Wrexham AFC?

Thanks to their Hollywood superstar owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, Wrexham AFC again feature in this year's FIFA. Their fame has grown with the release of the new TV show, Welcome To Wrexhamallowing fans and neutrals alike to see what life in Wrexham is like behind the scenes.

Reynolds and McElhenney have a combined net worth of $200 million, therefore transfers shouldn't be hard to come by. Similarly, as a player you can expect to make the starting lineup quickly and get some experience under your belt.

Wrexham are a great option for Career Mode, allowing you to join them in English Football League 2 and work your way up to the Premier League.

Monza

Better known for their racing track, Monza are playing their first ever season in Serie A this year. Following investment from owner and former Italin Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, Monza have climbed two leagues in as many seasons to make it to the top flight of Italian football.

No doubt about it, survival will be difficult for Monza to achieve, however, following a shock 1-0 victory over European giants Juventus in game-week 7 it's possible to dream. With your hands behind the wheel, can you help Monza avoid the drop and make some memories along the way?

Their current manager has only ever managed one senior professional game, albeit a win over Juventus. So you essentially have the same qualifications.

Union Berlin

Currently undefeated and sitting top of the German Bundesliga, Union Berlin are proving to be a real surprise this year. Albeit only seven games in, the side are showing real progress from last season, showcasing their youthful talent and potential. Their current success goes to show you don't need all the money in the world to compete.

As a player or a manager, you can help Union Berlin compete with the likes of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund in the league, whilst also battling for Europa League glory. As a young player you will be guaranteed a quicker route to the starting lineup, allowing you to make a name for yourself.

Shamrock Rovers

Create your own player, manager or control Stephen Bradley as you fight for League of Ireland success and battle on European nights in Tallaght Stadium.

How far can your Rovers side go in the hunt for European glory? Create custom tactics that allow you to play how you see fit. Less shouting at the TV, more custom formations.

Manage challenges such as squad depth heavy fixture lists and the drama of League of Ireland football as a manager or battle for places in the starting lineup as a player. Rack up experience and interest overseas as you try and secure a move to the big leagues or stay and carry Rovers to Champions League glory. Anything is possible.

Career Mode with Manchester United? 

A much more mainstream team to start your career at, Manchester United are in the process of rebuilding. What better place to kick start your career. Thanks to the new 'Authentic Managers' feature you can control new boss Erik Ten Hag as he embarks on his mission to reinstate Manchester United as one of the best teams in the world.

Following a decade of disappointment could you be the missing link that helps revive this club. As a player, compete for starting positions alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay. As a manager you will be able to create the United lineup you wish for, sell Maguire to a fitting League 2 team and stop Ronaldo from sulking. Can you help bring titles back to Old Trafford?

It's set to be another exciting year playing career mode, with new features enhancing the already popular game mode. Excitement is building for the release of FIFA 23 on Friday 30th September, and the addition of AFC Richmond and Ted Lasso are certainly adding to it.

FIFA 23 is set to be a major upgrade on last year's game, with the addition of women's teams, various different features, and two World Cup game modes.
