To celebrate the addition of the 2022 FIFA World Cup to FIFA 23, EA Sports have released the "Ultimate Soundtrack" from the history of the iconic football game.

We've heard some absolute bangers on FIFA over the years - from 'Jerk it Out' on FIFA 2004 to 'Kids' on FIFA 09 to 'My Type' on FIFA 14, there have been some classics - but did any of those songs make the 'Ultimate FIFA Soundtrack'?

FIFA 23: EA Sports release Ultimate Soundtrack Playlist

The 2022 FIFA World Cup is coming to FIFA 23 this Wednesday. Across a range of game modes, players will be able to try and taste World Cup glory with any of the teams that have qualified for the tournament - or they can swap in nations of their choosing to try and bring their country to glory (handy for us Irish fans).

The game mode will also include content across Ultimate Team, and the option to take part in online tournaments, or to play along with the real-world World Cup.

To celebrate the launch of the World Cup mode, EA Sports have added a special collection of songs for the game mode - the 'Ultimate FIFA Soundtrack'. The playlist was chosen by fans after a week long voting campaign.

For the debate, players voted for their favourite tracks by streaming it on Spotify and nominating on Social Media with #UltimateFIFASoundtrack. The top 100 songs have now been revealed as an official soundtrack on Spotify and a selection of 40 songs from that list will go into game on the 9th November when the 2022 FIFA World Cup is added to the game.

FIFA 23 Ultimate Soundtrack

We certainly aren't disappointed with the selection by FIFA fans, with some iconic tunes in the playlist bringing back memories of past FIFA games. Who can forget banging them in with Santos era Neymar on FIFA 13 while 'Love Me Again' blared in the background? Now you can try to bring him and Brazil to World Cup glory on FIFA 23 with the same song guiding you through the menus.

It's a serious blast from the past, and we cannot believe that all of these tracks will be returning. 'Song 2', 'The Nights', 'Cocoon', 'Club Foot' - all of the classics from the past 25 years are there in the Ultimate FIFA Soundtrack, and will bring the World Cup game mode to life.

Speaking on the reveal of the "Ultimate FIFA Soundtrack" the president of music at EA, Steve Schnur, said:

For the past quarter century, EA Sports FIFA has been a destination for new music from up-and-coming artists and superstars alike. Every fan has their favourite FIFA tracks, and this playlist is the ultimate celebration of the music that has defined discovery, diversity, and excellence for generations of gamers. Originally, FIFA Soundtracks reflected global culture. Then they began to influence culture. The Ultimate FIFA Soundtrack proves how and why they've become culture.

Spotify are also delivering a personalised FIFA Mix and suggested FIFA Anthem for their listeners, based on past listening habits which can easily be shared across social platforms. Screenshots below explain how listeners can create their FIFA Mix.  Further to all of this, there will be new in-game content available including a second Soundtrack Vanity drop featuring exclusive designs from bands such as Gorillaz.

The full 100 song 'Ultimate FIFA Soundtrack' playlist can be found below, and the 40 song selection will be added as the soundtrack to the FIFA World Cup game mode. We have to say, it's packed full of bangers.

EA Sports also revealed that the top five most listened to "FIFA songs" on Spotify were:

  1. 'Heat Waves' by Glass Animals
  2. 'The Nights' by Avicii
  3. 'you should see me in a crown' by Billie Eilish
  4. 'On Top of the World' by Imagine Dragons
  5. 'Ojitos Lindos' by Bad Bunny and Bomba Estéreo

The FIFA World Cup 2022 game mode will be playable in FIFA 23 this Wednesday.

Are there any songs you're sad to see miss out on a place in the Ultimate FIFA Soundtrack?
