Ernie Els With One Of The Worst Opening Holes In The Open History

Ernie Els With One Of The Worst Opening Holes In The Open History
By Mark Fives

We've all missed putts inside one foot on the links.. Just maybe not at the first hole in the Open Championship. That's exactly what Ernie Els did today... Twice...

The big South African had a tap in putt for par at the first, but inexplicably knocked it by the hole. He then attempted to knock it in with the back of the putter, left handed and managed to miss yet again!

Perhaps it was his notoriously relaxed demeanor that stopped him from having a Henrik Stenson style breakdown. It could be a long way back for the Big Easy after that disastrous triple bogey.
