This week will see the first edition of The Masters take place since the great schism in professional golf.

The establishment of the Saudi-backed LIV Golf last summer caused a massive stir in the sport, with a number of big name players jumping ship and giving up their places on the PGA Tour as a result.

Of course, many of those outcasts are still eligible to play in the majors. Those events exist outside the remit of the traditional tours, with former champions and other top ranked names being invited to take part.

Their presence in the field for this tournament certainly adds another dimension to what is already the most prestigious event in golf.

Greg Norman send LIV Golf warning ahead of The Masters

Greg Norman has been the face of the LIV Golf revolt, acting the tour's public voice and helping to recruit new players to the tour.

He was once a fixture at the majors, having been one of the most famous players in the sport in previous eras. However, he will not be present at Augusta this week having failed to receive an invitation, presumably as a result of his exploits over the last year or so.

While he won't be there in person, the South African is fully backing his LIV Golf players in the event.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Norman warned that there could be some wild scenes if a LIV golfer wins the tournament, featuring multi-player celebrations and a huge afterparty.

Funnily enough, I haven't been invited. As a major winner I always was before, but they only sent me a grounds pass last year and nothing, zilch, this time around. I'm disappointed because it's so petty but of course I'll still be watching...

I would be the happiest man in the world, the first to ring and congratulate and pay for what would be an incredible party.

But it's not about me it's about the players and I'm telling you they're not going there as individuals, but as a team, backing each other, supporting and rooting for each other. I think that gives these great players an even greater chance next Sunday...

They've said that if one of them wins then the other 17 will hang around and be there to congratulate him around the 18th green.

Could you imagine what a scene that would be, all these players hugging the winner. You only see things like that in the Ryder Cup, although it's happening in our events more and more.

Norman would certainly revel in a LIV Golf win at The Masters, although it remains to be seen how his players will fare at Augusta.

An over the top reaction to a good week would certainly go down badly with many of the others in attendance.
