The first quarter-final of the Irish Golf Legends Cup features no.1 seed Padraig Harrington up against no. 8 seed Philip Walton.

Padraig Harrington is a three time major winner, with two British Open titles and one PGA Championship title. He has notched up a total of 28 professional wins since turning pro in 1996 and has been ranked as high as 3rd in the world. He has also been part of 4 Ryder Cup winning teams.

Philip Walton totalled seven professional wins in his career and reached a ranking of 13th in the world in 1995. He also played a crucial role in Europe's 1995 Ryder Cup win at the Oak Hill Country Club in New York. Walton beat Haas ensuring a 14.5 to 13.5 victory for Europe.

The second quarter-final of the Irish Golf Legends Cup sees 3rd seed Graeme McDowell face 6th seed Christy O'Connor. This is really the battle of the nicknames – G-Mac vs the man affectionately known as 'himself'.

Graeme McDowell is one of the four major winners in the cup. He won the 2010 US Open at Pebble Beach and has been ranked 4th in the world at one stage. He also has 9 tour wins under his belt. He has also been part of two European Ryder Cup wins.

Christy O'Connor Snr is probably the most revered Irish golfer ever. He became a pro in 1946, won 24 European tour titles and was the first Irishman to win the European tour's order of merit in 1961. He also played in 10 consecutive Ryder Cups, winning once and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2009.
