It's been quite a year for Greystones' native Paul Dunne. From leading the Open goigng into the final round, to winning the Walker Cup his last few months as an amateur were quite spectacular.

After turning professional after the Walker Cup, Dunne made his debut as a pro this week in the Alfred Dunhill Links championship, where his pro career got off to a great start.

Dunne got his first hole in one on just his sixth hole as a pro. That's quite an achievement. That helped settled him down after a shaky start, and Dunne is joint leader at -8 after a brilliant 64.

Starting on the back nine, Dunne bogeyed two of his opening four holes, before the ace on the 15th at Kingsbairns. Five birdies in his next ten holes have flown him up the leaderboard. Dunne is one shot off the lead.

Amazingly, Dunne isn't the only pro debutant in the tournament doing, with England's Jimmy Mullen sitting pretty with Dunne on -8.

Dunne will return to the scene of his Open heroics tomorrow, as the tournament is played across Kingsbairns, Carnousite, and St. Andrew's.
