Just three years ago Rory McIlroy entered the biggest battle of his golf career when the Saudi Public Investment Fund commissioned a breakaway golf tour called Liv golf and the Co.Down golfer became the PGA Tour's defacto opposer-in-chief in one of professional sport's most infamous sagas.
Last night, the same Rory McIlroy gave us the first glimpse at life after the feud, with The Showdown in Las Vegas pitting Liv Golf's biggest stars Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka against the PGA's Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler.
If this was to be a judgement of what tour the world's best golfers were on, then it was a resounding win for the PGA tour with Rory McIlroy and world number one Scottie Scheffler claiming an emphatic win over their rivals.
The tournament which was played in Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas and finished under lights, saw the pairs face off in three different two-on-two competitions of six holes apiece.
McIlroy and Scheffler claimed both the opening bets-ball competition after four holes and the alternate-shot competition. After building up a healthy lead in the opening two competitions, McIlroy and DeChambeau weren't even required to finish their face-off after Scottie Scheffler claimed the winning half-point.

Scheffler's brilliant response to major crypto win
After storming to victory in the desert, McIlroy and Scheffler received a rather unconventional reward in the form of a ten million dollar crypto purse.
After the pair were handed over the outstanding amount of money for their Showdown, Scottie Scheffler delivered a brilliant reply to questions about his plans for the purse.
I don't know a whole lot about crypto, but this is good motivation to do some research, maybe ask Steve some questions, figure out what's going on.

Despite not being read up on the intricacies of cryptocurrency, the buoyant pair certainly weren't scoffing at the far from measly ten million dollars they'd just been handed, giggling away at each other as their Liv Golf opponents glared on in dismay.
The Showdown was the hallmark event for what now seems like an inevitable reconciliation at the top level of golf, and acted as a precursor to a potential all-out LIV v PGA event played out over a weekend.
