It's fairly safe to say that 2024 was a year to remember for Scottie Scheffler. The American cemented his place atop the World Rankings with one of the most dominant runs on record during the first half of the year.
He won his second Masters, won Olympic Gold while also adding 6 more PGA Tour titles and only finishing outside the Top 10 3 times, earning himself nearly $30 million over the calendar year.
However it looks like Scheffler won't be able to get off to the hot start he did in 2024 as he has already had to withdraw from The Sentry, the first tournament on the PGA Tour calendar in Hawaii after undergoing surgery on his right hand.
The injury came about in very unusual circumstances. In a statement about his withdrawal from The Sentry, Scheffler's manager Blake Smith added that the injury came from a broken glass getting onto Scheffler's palm while the World Number 1 was preparing for Christmas dinner.
On Christmas Day while preparing dinner, Scottie sustained a puncture wound to the palm of his right hand from a broken glass.
Small glass fragments remained in the palm which required surgery. He has been told that he should be back to 100 per cent in three to four weeks.
Unfortunately, he will have to withdraw from The Sentry. His next scheduled tournament is The American Express.

He's expected to return withiun 3-4 weeks to play at The American Express tournament on January 16th.
Not everyday you see bizarre injuries like this one to Scottie Scheffler, with Wayne Rooney's kitchen spar and Marco Asensio's leg shaving fiasco coming to mind as other weird injuries we've seen in the past.
Hopefully this is just a minor blip on the road for Scheffler as he's been on a run of a lifetime.
