Shane Lowry was forced to hop on a private jet back to the Wyndham Championship after he had left the course following the conclusion of his second round, thinking he had missed the cut.

When he had completed Friday's 18 holes he was eight shots back from the leader and in a tie for 64th, and not inside the cut line. However, the leaderboard shifted and he made it through to Saturday.

A delay in play during the second round had meant that Lowry had time to fly home before finding out that he had indeed made the weekend, forcing him into a quick change of plans and having to charter a private plane.

Lowry broke the news on Twitter with a picture of the jet and the caption, 'My lift to round 3 @PGATOUR'.

Shane Lowry is currently in the middle of his third round and sits in a tie for 56th, on one under after 11 holes.

Lowry suffered from a disastrous start to the tournament, double bogeying the first hole and finding himself four over after four, and has been playing catch up since.

The tournament is being held at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, and is the final PGA Tour before the start of the FedEx play-offs next week.

Thankfully Lowry is comfortably inside the cut to make the PGA Tour's end of season events, as he lies in a tie for 34th, and was using this week's tournament to get some competitive rounds in before next Thursday.
