Just a week after he came up short against Shane Lowry at the BMW Championship, Talor Gooch threw a dig at the Irishman after the latest LIV Golf event in Chicago this weekend.

Gooch's 4 Ace squad were the winning team at the Rich Harvest Farms course in Chicago, and he shared a video to his Instagram feed after the event which seemed to pretty clearly target Lowry.

LIV Golf: Talor Gooch throws clear Shane Lowry dig

Talor Gooch was close to overcoming the Irish charge on the last day of the BMW PGA Championship, finishing just two shots off winner Shane Lowry, and only one shot behind runner-up Rory McIlroy.

Lowry had been outspoken earlier in the weekend of his dislike for some of the players on the LIV Golf series (which Gooch recently signed up to), and made another pointed remark about them in the aftermath of the tournament.

Speaking to the media immediately after his closing round at Wentworth, Lowry said:

I wanted to go out and win this tournament for myself first and foremost, but I think for this tour and everyone who has stayed loyal to this tour and done everything for this tour. I really feel like this is one for the good guys.

It wasn't exactly subtle that Lowry was referring to those affiliated with LIV Golf as the "bad guys" in this dichotomy, and Gooch has clearly taken issue with the Offaly native's remarks.

In a video shared to his Instagram story from the celebrations in Chicago, Gooch panned around to the crowd in the background with the caption, "another one for the good guys".

Especially given Gooch was so close to toppling Lowry at Wentworth, it's easy to see who his comments are targeting.

Lowry, alongside fellow Irishman McIlroy, has been vocal in his criticism of the Saudi-backed series. LIV Golf has also been on the receiving end of criticism from the likes of Tiger Woods over its affiliation with the questionable human rights record of Saudi Arabia, and for its perceived gimmicky format.

The series has attracted some of the world's best players, with Open champion Cameron Smith the individual winner at the Chicago event this weekend, and the likes of Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, and Brooks Koepka among the field.

Nonetheless, it remains a deeply divisive series, and the debate over LIV Golf is set to rumble on. Comments like these from the likes of Talor Gooch and Shane Lowry will only add fuel to the fire.
